This beginner-level photography class serves as a perfect introduction to the world of digital photography, offering students a comprehensive overview of the fundamental concepts necessary for crafting stunning photographs. In this course, you will be introduced to the essential elements that form the backbone of photography today.

We will delve into understanding how cameras function, the vital principles of exposure and composition, and the role of light in enhancing images. Importantly, we aim to go beyond mere technical skills by focusing on the art of visual storytelling. Our goal is to help you comprehend why certain images captivate audiences and how to replicate these effects in your own work.

As we explore these components, real-world applications will be at the forefront, allowing you to create the types of photographs you are passionate about, whether they involve capturing majestic landscapes, intimate portraits, everyday moments, or cherished family vacations. The structure of the class emphasizes discussion rather than lecture, featuring dynamic group conversations and illustrative examples derived from contemporary photography and photojournalism practices. You’ll gain practical insights as you engage with peers in analyzing and critiquing various photographic styles.

We encourage participants to bring a camera if available, but it’s not a necessity, as smartphones are equally welcome. No previous experience in photography is required, making this class accessible to anyone eager to explore the realm of photography from scratch.
