Saturday, March 8  from 1 – 3:30 pm at the BAA Art Center

Emphasis is on tools and equipment. No experience needed.  These classes are designed to help you explore the medium of oils in painting. For adults including high-school age.

Bring $10 and we will provide all your supplies.

This “Art 101” Introduction to Oils class is geared for people who are interested in oils for the color intensity, depth, and beauty but may be reluctant because oils are “smelly”, hard to clean up, expensive, toxic, difficult, etc.   In this class, students will learn about oil paints, modern thinners, solvents, brushes and equipment, mixing and cleanup so that you don’t have to be afraid of oil painting and can experience the unsurpassed wonderful color and depth of this medium.  We will of course also cover the basics of color creation, application techniques, composition, work sequence and some of my “tricks”. Students will create some small paintings. It will run 3 sessions.

If you have oil paints and materials, bring them.  If not just bring yourself and the BAA will provide materials (for a small fee).
Bill Whitte
Bill is a retired engineer / scientist from Phillips Petroleum co. now enjoying painting. He received art training as a student in Buffalo NY during the 1960’s and 1970’s and was encouraged to pursue an art career. However, a college degree in science seemed to be a better choice. So, art took a back seat for 37 years.

Now, upon retiring he have been able to resume art. His favorite medium is oils. The smell, the flow, the colors, the techniques are all great.  You can see some of his work on his Facebook page.
