"Art 101" Cold Wax & Oil Painting with Instructor Lori Roll
Lori teaches cold wax and oil, encaustic painting, and concertina sketchbooks. She loves teaching these mediums and the sketchbook form because it gives me the opportunity to engage students from beginners to established artists in a way that is very freeing.
These forms lend themselves to experimentation, architectural layering and multi-media expression. It is about creating a personal language. While all art is a very personal expression of the artist, these forms utilize unusual pairings, mark making, layering and constructs to create a unique language specific to each creation. Students are universally surprised and delighted by their works at the end of each class.
Time: 1:00-4:00pm
Supplies: Materials provided for a $25 fee, due at time of class.
Lori Roll is an Oklahoma artist with a background in photography, jewelry and art. She currently works in cold wax and oil, encaustic wax, multimedia sketchbooks and collage.
Her loose graphic style evokes her love of nature, interior and exterior landscapes, mark making and bold color to create works evoking memories experienced and imagined.
She enjoys the freedom of abstract expression in her inventive works which employ light, shadow, color and personal language in architectural layers.
