Beginning Cold Wax and Oil Painting

March 28 & 29 -Thursday and Friday evenings from 6:00 – 9:00 pm

Students can register for one evening or for both.

$50 for one evening (Thursday only) plus $40 for supplies payable to Lori upon arrival at class.

$95 for both evenings (Thursday and Friday) plus $40 for supplies payable to Lori upon arrival at class.

Students will learn how to use cold wax and oil as a freeing and malleable medium which lends itself to abstract or representational expression and multimedia applications. We will cover the properties of cold wax and oil, and then paint, paint, paint! The class is limited to 10 participants to allow for individual attention. Be prepared to get messy and have fun! Apron or old clothes are desirable.

This class is for adults, high school and older. All skill levels welcome

Supply List:

Students need to bring Arches (preferred) 9”x12” oil paper and a roll of painter’s tape.

Lori will provide all other supplies including paint, wax medium and multi-media supplies: Gamblin oil paints R&F Oil Pigment Sticks Gamblin wax medium Charcoal and graphite pencils Oil pastels, wax crayons, inks, and markers Paint palettes Rubber scrapers, spatulas, and brayers Stencils, art papers Mark-making tools and palette knives Gloves Baby oil, baby wipes, and paper towels for clean-up.

About Lori:

Lori has been exhibiting and teaching cold wax and oil for 8 years in Oklahoma, Maine and Sedona, AZ. She was invited to have a one-woman show at the Price Tower Art Center, December 2022 to January 2023. Lori has studied with several excellent teachers in the cold wax and oil and encaustic mediums. She loves to teach newcomers and experienced artists alike. Lori is a member of the Bartlesville Art Association
