“Art 101” Beginning Watercolor Painting

Time: 2 – 4 pm
Class is held at the Bartlesville Art Association, 217 S. Comanche Ave @ Frank Phillips Blvd. in the Comanche Center
This class is for adults including high-school age. Maximum class size is 15.
Join award winning watercolorist, Amy Jenkins, as she guides you step-by-step through painting this beautiful sunflower using watercolors. A sketch will be provided of this sunflower which you will transfer onto you watercolor paper before class. We have light boxes at the BAA you an use to lightly trace the sketch onto your paper. This “Art 101” class is perfect for beginners but all skill levels are welcome.
Art 101” classes are taught by BAA members for BAA members. You get one FREE “Art 101” class with your annual membership.

Supplies needed:
1 sheet of 8″ x 10″ Arches 140 lb cold press paper and paint.
Paints:
Yellow – Aureolin, Hansa Yellow Light, or something similar
Red – Cadmium red or something red or red-orange. Not pink
Blue – Cerulean, Ultramarine, Cobalt or similar
Green – optional – can be mixed. Sap green is good if you have it.
Other supplies needed:
Brushes 12 round and 2 round or similar sizes.
Paper towels
Water container
Palette or styrofoam plate for paint.
Tape and a board to tape paper on. BAA has some boards to loan if needed.
***Amy can provide your supplies for a $10 fee (payable to Amy when you come to class). Please indicate that you choose this option when you email the BAA to sign up for class.

Amy Jenkins has worked as a commercial artist, calligrapher, and elementary art teacher. Since retiring from teaching in 2015, she has served as president and member of the Bartlesville Art Association and focused on watercolor painting. She is also a member of the Green Country Watercolor Society in Tulsa, OK and has won honors in competitions sponsored by both organizations.
